I don’t know why my previous family gave me up, but I’m ready to put the past behind me and find a forever home where I can feel safe and loved. My foster home has been taking good care of me, but I need to find a new home before October.I’m a friendly boy who can be a little shy at first. Give me some patience, gentle attention, and a few tasty treats, and I’ll warm up to you. I’m comfortable with gentle pets and hugs, and I tend to feel a little more at ease around women. I’m also an independent guy—I enjoy affection, but I’m not overly needy.I get along well with other dogs of all sizes. I’m happy to say hello and share my space, although I’m not really interested in playing. I’m a peaceful guy who will even walk away if another dog bothers me.I have moderate energy and enjoy outdoor adventures followed by relaxing at home. I’m working on my leash manners and may pull a little, but I’m generally good at following my handler. I do get excited when I see cats outdoors and may try to chase them, so I haven’t been tested with indoor cats yet.I’m crate-trained and housetrained, although I may mark a little when I first arrive somewhere new. I rarely bark, have no escape tendencies, and haven’t shown separation anxiety.I’m hoping someone will look past the fact that I was surrendered and give me the fresh start I deserve. I may be independent, but I have plenty of love and loyalty to give to the person who earns my trust.
