HEX hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with his brother, Hoppity, to find his forever home. He’s UtD on his vaccines including Rabies, he’s microchipped, had Interceptor Plus dewormer and has been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We don’t have any information on his parents so the breeds we think he is an educated guess based on what he and his brother look like and the same can be said of the size he’ll grow to be as well. He’s a gentle, quiet, very loveable boy who loves his hoomans almost as much as he loves other dogs and everyone’s always greeted by a happy, tail wagging boy. HEX is working on his crate training but unfortunately the first time he was left alone in it the fire alarm “low battery” announcement started going off so it freaked poor HEX right out and he chewed up his bed, blanket and the tray in his crate. So it’s been a challenge for his foster to get him settled in there again but she’s nailed it! He was in his crate yesterday with no issues and we’re sure he now understands that the alarm isn’t associated with his crate. He’s housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go outside for a bathroom break. He really is a smart boy and seems to know exactly what’s expected of him and he’s always looking for you to give him direction. He loves to go on walks and gets excited when he knows he’s going on one. He’s had no formal leash training so he does tend to pull but he wears a front clip harness and he does much better while wearing that. One of the cutest things he does is graze on his food as he very rarely finish his meal all at once. After a while he will paw on his bowl and eat the remains kibble if the floor. He’s very well mannered and at meal times he’ll “sit” nicely for them and he’ll also take treats “gentle.” HEX would love his family to be an active one who loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does need a family that’s has Husky experience and understands the complex nature that comes with the breed. In his case, he’s a very good boy now but without the breed experience he could easily become more challenging the older he gets. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’s fostered with another dog and they get along really well together. And will romp and play until they just tire themselves out. He lived with 2 cats in his previous home so he should do well in a home with them providing they’re dog savvy. If there’s a dog in his new home we did need them at the meet and greet with him to see how they interact together. We always recommend a slow, monitored introduction with the resident dog while he’s leashed for the first few times they meet or interact. Children should be aged 10yrs and up due to his happy-go-lucky bouncing around plus they should be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play so an apartment is not suitable home for him. HEX is an adolescent who’s had no formal training to speak of and although he’s a cute, playful, fun guy he will only be adopted to a family that’s going to be totally dedicated to getting him the mandatory training he needs. He’ll also need time, patience and dedication to both him and his training for him to end up being the greatest dog he can be. It should be noted that HEX was previously known as Hippity and was returned to the rescue after being adopted at just 3 months old and then returned to the rescue at 7.5 months of age. It was due to no fault of his own and he’s been nothing but a great boy since he’s been back with us.
