Meet Cordelia! Breed: Dachshund mixAge: 6 yearsGender: Female Weight: 14 lb Height: 11 inchesHighlight(s): Friendly, calm and affectionateHi, I’m Cordelia! I was found wandering the streets while pregnant, and I gave birth to four beautiful puppies at the shelter. Thankfully, kind people came to our rescue, and now I’m dreaming of a forever home of my own.I’m a gentle, mellow girl who may be a little shy at first. Give me some patience, gentle affection, and tasty treats, and I’ll slowly open my heart to you. Once I feel safe, I’ll happily show you my belly! My love is quiet and comforting rather than loud or energetic. I get along well with other dogs and prefer peacefully sharing space over playing. I’m more comfortable with dogs around my size, and if another dog bothers me, I’d rather walk away than make a fuss. I haven’t met cats yet.I’m a low-energy girl who loves relaxing, resting, and soaking up the sunshine. But take me out for a walk, and you’ll see my cheerful side shine! I may pull a little on the leash, but I’m generally good at following my handler.I rarely bark, have no escape tendencies or resource-guarding issues, and haven’t shown separation anxiety. I’m still learning my housetraining, and I may whine when crated, so I’ll need a little patience as I settle into my new home. After everything I’ve been through, I’m ready for a peaceful life filled with sunshine, gentle cuddles, and someone who loves my quiet, tender nature. If you’re looking for a sweet companion to share life’s simple pleasures, I might just be your girl. get along with:Dogs: yesCats: noKids: unkonwnEngergy Level: Low, I usually stay calm and love resting. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
