About

Hello! My name is Stanley. Here is some information about me:Breed: Dachshund MixAge: 2 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 12.7 lbsHeight: 12"Stanley Seven weeks ago, Stanley arrived in foster care absolutely terrified of the world. Today, thanks to the incredible patience, love, and dedication of his foster family, this little 2-year-old Dachshund mix is discovering something he may never have known before—that humans can be trusted.Every day brings another small victory.Stanley now loves curling up on his foster's lap for cuddles and happily rolls over for gentle tummy rubs. His playful, goofy personality is beginning to shine through as he discovers the joy of toys—something he likely never had during the first two years of his life. He's also learning to walk on leash and is enjoying exploring the world one sniff at a time, taking in all the sights and smells he missed for so long. Even better, he's doing his business outside like a champ!Stanley's story began with heartbreak. He was abandoned in the California desert alongside 13 of his littermates before ending up in a high-kill shelter, where their future was incredibly uncertain. When rescuers stepped in, it became clear these little dogs had likely spent their lives in a puppy mill, with little human kindness or love. They arrived in Vancouver on April 26 frightened, confused, and unsure if people could be trusted.Stanley was so shut down that he wouldn't even eat from a bowl. His devoted foster hand-fed him meal after meal until, little by little, he realized he was finally safe. Watching him learn to trust has been nothing short of remarkable. While Stanley has made incredible progress, he is still looking for a home that understands healing takes time. His ideal family would be retired or work from home, allowing him the consistency and companionship he needs to continue building confidence. A home with a secure walk-out yard would also be perfect, making it easy for him to continue his house-training and enjoy the outdoors at his own pace.Stanley doesn't need a perfect family. He simply needs a patient one—people who will celebrate every little milestone, continue showing him kindness, and help him discover just how wonderful life can be.After everything he's been through, this sweet little boy deserves nothing less than a lifetime of love, safety, belly rubs, adventures, and the family he's been waiting for. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this.[MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.

Wanloo connects you with the shelter. You adopt directly with them.
